By now I'm sure most of you know of my obsession with dumplings. I looooovvveeee dumplings. Din Tai Fung is one of my most favourite chains for all things dumpling! So for those of you who do not know, Din Tai Fung is a Taiwanese restaurant chain that serves up awesome dumplings, wontons, soups, noodles etc etc. When I'm in Dubai, I visit this place every couple weeks. Their dumplings are to die for - literally. If I have to choose a last meal before I'm DED, it would be their Xiao Long Bao and Spicy Shrimp Wontons.
Their Spicy wontons come swimming in a spicy sauce which is out of this world. I crave it so much I had to learn to make it at home and I did! It's total bomb. You'll see when you make it. Once you do, there's no going back. You will only want to eat your dumplings/wontons in this sauce.
This recipe is easy and uses minimal ingredients which you probably already have in your kitchen.
Now without further ado, let's get into it
Spicy Sauce Ingredients:
- 1-2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1-1.5 heaping tbsp your preferred Sassy Sauce Collective chilli oil - I used Spicy Garlic for extra garlickyness
- 1 tsp Chinese black vinegar if you have it or you can use Apple Cider vinegar as a substitute like I did
- 0.5 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp minced ginger
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1-2 tbsp hot water
- Make the sauce by whisking together all ingredients. Let sit at room temperature until ready to use.
- Plate your dumplings/wontons/momos of choice. Pour the sauce on top of the dumplings coating them well. Enjoy!
Hope you guys make this soon! Happy eating!
